Following weeks of speculation Shas party leader Aryeh Deri announced at a Tuesday night 12 Adar election kenos that he will recommend that Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu receive the presidential mandate to form the next government. The announcement is a blow to Labor leader Yitzchak Hertzog.
Until recently it appeared that Deri was not going to announce who he would recommend until following elections but with the party down in the polls it appears Deri is targeting right-wing voters, thereby sending a message that following elections Shas will recommend Mr. Netanyahu be given the opportunity to form a government.
However, the fact that he will recommend Netanyahu to President Rivlin, this does not preclude Shas joining a left-wing government headed by Herzog if the latter forms the next government.

So now all the people who were scared to vote shas because he may not recommend bibi can vote for them
So basically Netanyahu can head a government that cuts funding to Yeshivos and Chareidi famalies. Can have his government pass legislation drafting Yeshiva bochrim to the IDF. Can have his government pass the Yesh Atid social agenda. Can go to America and publicly humiliate its president causing immeasurable harm to the US-Israel relationship and Shas will still publicly commit to supporting him for a few right wing votes. Shame on them!
It’s only a recommendation not a ticket for joining. DERI is a politician par excellence.
Deri says many things, and sometimes one thing appears to contradict another thing he said. Who knows what he will really do?
