The Movement for Quality Government petitioned the Central Election Committee in the hope of preventing Rishon L’Tzion HaGaon HaRav Yitzchak Yosef Shlita from spending a Shabbos before elections in Netivot. The petitioner feels the rav’s presence in the southern city would be tantamount to electioneering for Shas.
Central Election Committee Chairman Salim Jubran released his decision on the petition on Tuesday, 12 Adar, rejecting the effort to prevent the rav from spending Shabbos in Netivot. Jubran stated the Rishon L’Tzion is permitted to spend Shabbos in the city as planned.
