YWN-ISRAEL reported earlier that the rabbi of the Tel Aviv shul that decided to host an immodest fashion show was unaware of the event, as per the rav’s response to media reports.
What has many surprised is that shul officials explain they thought it was going to be a modest event yet when they saw this was not the case, no one uttered a word and no one made an effort to stop the Chilul Hashem in the shul. Srugim News reports photos show the rav was present for the fashion show too.
The letter gives the shul the authority to veto photos it deems inappropriate. It will be interesting to see what occurs.
Rabbi riel Constantin, mora d’asra of the shul had his attorney send a letter to the media. The letter states “There is no basis to what is claimed as my client never agreed to hold a fashion show that is immodest in the shul. It was carried out under the responsibility of the chazan of the shul and he was dismissed immediately after the incident by Rabbi Constantine’s office.
“Also the rabbi immediately hired the services of an attorney to address the matter in question and the matter is now being addressed by attorneys, who is taking action against those responsible for this injustice. Any other claim against the honorable rabbi and the shul is slander and loshon hora and results in a Chilul Hashem”.

I think this is blown out of proportion but there is no way of knowing what they mean by “immodest”. there are no photos for obvious reasons. However, why not just adopt a policy of not doing these types of fashion shows period (even if its only sheitels or bekeshes). No reason to fire the Chazan
and if the fashion show would have been modest it would have been permitted to hold in a shul???
was the show in the actual synagouge , cause i don’t even think that would be permitted. though in some shuls there is an un-official fashion show every week , usually the models show up right before mussaf.
