Shas Angered: Rabbi David Toledano [Grandson Of Maran HaRav Ovadia Yosef] Running in Jerusalem Rabbinate Race

toleThere is anger in Shas after officials learned that Rabbi David Toledano, a son of Rabbi Mordechai Toledano Shlita, is registered among the candidates in the Jerusalem Chief Rabbinate Race. Rabbi Mordechai Toledano is a son-in-law of Maran HaGaon HaRav Ovadia Yosef ZT”L and his son, a grandson of Maran ZT”L, has decided to run as well.

Shas officials are angered over the lack of achdus and that a grandson of Maran would dare to compete with his father in the race for the same post, both seeking to become the next Jerusalem Chief Sephardi Rabbi. They add they are confident the younger Toledano will not receive a single vote and question why he would compete against his own father.

  1. Go challenge any Rabbi from any “Camp” who undoubtedly is up and away the leading talmud chacham and greatest man of stature ,of all candidates.

Every one ,bar none, will tell you straight out or will mumble that really it is HaRav Eliyahu Shlesinger

So ,pray, what could be his “flaw”,
that the electoral system was gerrymandered and delayed over and over till another candidate could step up ?

Is it that he is more likely to be “incorrigble” and less likely of all the candidates to succumb and surrender

to overwhelming “pressures” (and occasional dollars with blandishments)
to “moderate” i.e. adulerate to the “demands” of the era?

Or is it that he will “struggle to connect” with the public?
(eh..pull out the good ol’ “Ahavat yisroel” lingo)

Oh..He lives in Jerusalem and he is the long term highly respected and strongly popular Rav
of predominantly traditional and irreligious neighborhood of Gilo.

p.s.And some still wonder how come moshiach has yet to come?

  2. Go challenge any Rabbi from any “Camp” who undoubtedly is up and away the leading talmud chacham and greatest man of stature ,of all candidates. -Think a large majority will agree that it is Rav Stern…..

If we are talking Talmud chachas and greatest man of stature (what does that mean BTW??) for Chief Rabbi of Israel it would have been Rav Yakov Shapiro.
Except you know, I know and we all know this is not a contest of yidius, yiras shamayim, midos, halacha l’maiasa, etc.. —- it is MUCH MORE THAN THAT!!!!!

Instead of babbling,’sil vous plait’ go ahead and Ask

“Except you know, I know and we all know this is not a contest of yidius, yiras shamayim, midos, halacha l’maiasa, etc..—- it is MUCH MORE THAN THAT!!!!!”

    Precisely.
