In an encouraging sign, Rabbi Shlomo Amar Shlita was received as a guest in the sukka of Rishon L’Tzion Rabbi Yitzchak Yosef Shlita, signaling the two are moving towards renewing their relationship and ending the hostilities that exist in the Shas camp today. Rav Amar arrived in Rav Yosef’s sukka on Monday 19 Tishrei for a yomtov visit. The two exchanged divrei torah and discussed relevant events including the need to unite and bring an end to machlokes towards uniting Sephardic Jewry.
Rabbi Amar had words of praise for his mechutin, citing the Rishon L’Tzion’s efforts to strengthen the nation’s batei din. Rabbi Amar added that Rav Yosef’s election to the post of Rishon L’Tzion “Is a big bracha for the Jewish people and a big zechus permitting him to continue in Maran’s path”.
During the visit Rav Amar presented Rav Yosef with the eighth volume of his sefer “Shema Shlomo” which is expected to be available to the public in another month.
Rav Yosef stated he is confident Rav Amar will continue his critical work for the good of the tzibur at large and the spreading of Torah and bringing Jews back towards a life of Torah observance.
