A large crowd was on hand to take part in a pidyon peter chamor (פדיון פטר חמור) in the Yeshivat Mekubalim Ohr HaRashbi. The event was dedicated to the success and safety of IDF soldiers taking part in Operation Protective Edge and security in Eretz Yisrael.
Many shofaros were sounded and the tzibur recited Yud Gimmel Midos. Rosh Yeshiva Rav Yaakov HaKohen Shlita conducted the pidyon.
The owner of the donkey is a resident of Kiryat Gat, which has been under rocket fire. He requested to host the event in the yeshiva in Meron.

Does anyone know what the pan of fire is for?
I think it is a bonfire in honor of Rashbi and I can imagine they sang Bar Yochai too.
