For many in the Zionist camp, these words uttered by Motta Gur following the June 1967 liberation of Jerusalem Old City, the Kosel and Har Habayis, “Har Habayis is in our hands” still echo in their ears today. However, it is difficult to persuade anyone that Israel remains in control of Har Habayis.
It is clear that while Israel Police patrol the holy site, they are in no small way under the control of the Waqf Authority as they maintain a zero tolerance policy against Jews, favoring the Muslims who continue to battle for the holy areas of Eretz Yisrael.
Without addressing piskei halacha of gedolei yisrael shlita regarding the prohibition of visiting Har Habayis, or the rulings of some dati leumi poskim permitting this today with restrictions, it is clear that the Government of Israel supports the religious discrimination on the holy site by its malfeasance, fearing an outcry from the international Islamic community and renewed Islamic violence.
The following video shows Israel Police standing by as the Muslim mob exhibits its authority and prohibits the entry of Jews to the holy site.

HAR HABAYIT is in our hands, is an expression that echoes in every heart and soul especially those who lived through the miraculous days of June ’67.
Zionist or not…..the miracles and return to Yerushalayim (Kosel Hamaaravi) has been a spiritual revival for multitudes of Israelis.
I was under the impression that what they said was, “Hakotel b’yadeinu”. That’s what I remember hearing on some of the videos of that momentous day.
