Rabbi Lior Glazar is once again performing his “smash your iPhone” ritual in his Bnei Brak Bais Medrash. In July of 2013, YWN reported that Rabbi Glazer proclaimed a never-before heard of Segula for one to have children. In that event, which can be viewed below, Rabbi Glazer began his ritual by reciting various Tefillos, which included “Shema Yisroel”, as well as “Hashem Hu Hoelokim”. He then began singing a song while the person looking for the Segulah took a hammer and smashed his iPhone. Rabbi Glazer then grabbed the hammer and gave the iPhone a few finishing blows – to ensure that the Segula would work.
In the latest ritual, Rabbi Glazer is in a a room (possibly his Bais Medrash) full of women. A woman walks up to the front of the room, and places a smartphone on the table. Rabbi Glazer then grabs a heavy rock, and begins smashing the phone, while yelling “Timche Es Zecher Amalek”.
It is unknown what the Segula was in this ritual.
YWN was unable to verify if these videos were taken using an iphone or a Droid.

This is a great idea, after this, go out and smash cars; they lead down the wrong way. Who knows what other things on can smash. And, you can say that they are all Sgolas.

So for this segulah, I need to start off with buying an iPhone? Is that not a segula haba’ah b’aveira? or is ok because it’s lshem the segulah that I’m buying it?
I’m not in the habit of sharing segulas — but I think that it would be better to sell the iPhone and then donate the money to tzedakah. Then you’re mkayem the mitzvah of tzedaka, and avoiding bal tashchis at the same time!! Ein lcha segular gedaloh mkiyum hamitzvose!!

What will happen when the couple that smashed their phone gave money to Chia Rottel or Kupat Harir or any other of the organization specializing in genavos that have pictures and stories of gedolim, not have the promissed yeshuah.

People who are desperate to have a family will do anything. Even this. What is completely abhorrent is the manipulation & false hope this crazy man uses to get people to give up their smart phones.Presumably some money changes hands at some point as well. Next time he wants to check his emails, he can ask me to use my iphone. And I will say no.
We live in a timeof Segulos. Some Segulos are from real Gelolim of previous generations. They have sources in Chazal, and Seforim Kedoshim. (ie; Saying Parshas haMon on the Tuesday of Parshas Bishalach or the tfilah for Banim Bnai Torah on erev Shavuos. And still no guarantee!! Some people do them others don’t. Buy making up Segulos is very dangerous. Only someone of GREAT stature, such as a recognized Gadol haDor, can tell us of a Segulah that was hereto unheard of. But what happens when simple Jews, Maaminim bnai Maaminim don’t see the desired results of the Segulah? One can lose all their Emunah and Emunas Chachmim, Ch”v.
If Rabomim believe that smart phones are inapproprate, let them teach the Tzibbur. Some will listen, some will not. Just like anything else. This is just foolish and misleading.

You’re on to something. The joke book of “stories” are meant to take advantage of the poor naïve gullible lost souls. Its a chutzpah for these “Tzedaka” “Organizations” to be mivazeh the Gedolim by putting their pictures on the cover of the joke books.
But OK for this man to be in a room full of women?? Hum Hum.
I can’t imagine how this could possibly be a segula, and I’m not willing to pay close to a thousand dollars to do this “mitzvah”. Does this guy only smash iPhones, as opposed to Windows phones, Android devices, or foreign imitation products?

I watch and listen to shiurim on my smartphone. Why wouldn’t that be a good segulah?
THIS “RABBI” IS A DISGRACE TO FRUMKEIT. HE MAKES UP HIS OWN SEGULOS BASED ON NOTHING. SMARTPHONES ARE A GREAT INVENTION, THEY HELP PEOPLE DAVEN WHEREVER THEY ARE. IT IS A DEVICE THAT WHEN USED PROPERLY, CAN HELP BRING US CLOSER TO HASHEM. ALSO, ALL OF THESE WOMEN THAT ARE HOPING TO HAVE BABIES ARE GOING TO HAVE A GROISAH LETDOWN. IF THEY WANT TO HAVE KINDERLACH, THEY SHOULD GO GET A BRACHAH FROM A GADOL HADOR, AND WORK ON THEMSELVES. THAT CAN BE THEIR SEGULAH.
