In an expected move, Attorney General Yehuda Weinstein on Wednesday afternoon 24 Kislev 5774 filed with the Jerusalem District Court challenging the Beit Shemesh mayoral elections. Earlier in the day, losing candidate Eli Cohen filed with the court as well, seeking new elections.
Weinstein was contemplating the move for some time and on Tuesday he signaled his appeal to the court would be likely amid mounting police evidence of election tampering and fraud. Weinstein has decided to call on the court to disqualify the city’s elections and order new elections.
Shas incumbent Rabbi Moshe Abutbul was successful in the race, beating Cohen by less than 1,000 votes.

Dear Editor,
Why don’t you report on the factual findings of the AG, which are the basis for his petition?
b’h – justice will be served. the level of fraud has not drawn sufficient protest. just listing the names of those who engaged in the fraud will do wonders to bring traditional Judaism back and disgrace the families and parties who will be identified nes gadol hayah shom.
@Yagel what exactly are you referring to?
