The Political Action Committee of Crown Heights, the most active political group in the Jewish Community of Crown Heights today announced its support for Laurie Cumbo in the hotly contested race for the 35th District of the City Council.
“Laurie has really made an effort to reach out to the Jewish residents of the District,” said Chanina Sperlin, Chairman of the Committee. “She understands the issues that our families face and she has made the alliances necessary to get things done.
“We are calling on all residents of the District to go out and vote on Tuesday and vote for Laurie Cumbo for City Council.”
Laurie Cumbo, the leading candidate for New York City Council in Corwn Heights said, “I am very grateful for the support of the Crown Heights Jewish Community. This is a community that places a premium on giving back. The amount of chesed that I have seen first hand is incredible. I look forward to working with Chanina Sperlin, Rabbi Eli Cohen of the JCC and the many other community leaders to continue to improve services to the community as their representative in City Hall.”
New York City’s only frum Councilman, David G. Greenfield, joined in this endorsement of Laurie Cumbo for the Crown Heights council seat, “I’ve known Laurie Cumbo for years. She is an outstanding community leader who has always had a strong bond with the Jewish community. I know that she is committed to the concerns of the Jewish community and will be a strong advocate for Crown Heights’ yeshivas, families and community institutions,” concluded Councilman Greenfield.
