The Moetzas Gedolei Yisrael of Degel Hatorah, Shas and Agudas Yisrael are expected to convene in a combined session surrounding regular Chilul Shabbos by Israel Railways, Chilul Shabbos that is approved by Transportation Minister Yisrael Katz. Many thought the meeting would have already occurred but it appears some of the rabbonim and admorim shlita were not available.

Elected chareidi officials have repeated threatened that they would bring down the coalition over continue Chilul Shabbos, but Katz insists the work that is carried out cannot be done during the week, authorizing the continue Chilul Shabbos. The chareidi coalition members insist they will fight without compromise to maintain the Shabbos status quo and the continued Shabbos maintenance work would result in the fall of the coalition.
