The Kirya military court on Monday, 12 Iyar, heard the second session of the appeal filed on behalf of Lior Azariya, who was convicted of manslaughter by the IDF Yaffa military court.

At the beginning of proceedings, the defendant’s dad, Mr. Charlie Azariya stated his son is innocent and was compelled to remain locked on base for fourteen months for nothing. Mr. Azariya added that Elor and family members are under threat and yet, no one is protected. He calls for protection for his son and others.

The case deals with Azariya validating the kill of a wounded terrorist in Hebron on Purim 2016. The terrorist was shot and wounded while stabbing a soldier a short time earlier. The state maintains the terrorist was already neutralized and therefore, there was no justification for killing him. Azariya was convicted and sentenced to 18 months in jail, leading to the appeal.
