Two Sifrei Torah were R”L destroyed in a blaze that took place on motzei first day Pesach in Eretz Yisrael, on Jerusalem’s Kapach Street.

Firemen arrived to find a working fire, which B”H they brought under control but only after the fire was brought under control did they realize the magnitude of the tragedy as two Sifrei Torah had been destroyed. A number of people were treated on the scene for smoke inhalation and then transported to a local hospital.

After the blaze, the Sifrei Torah were moved to a neighbor’s home until a decision is made regarding levaya arrangements. The fire led to structural compromise and inspectors have barred residents for their own safety.
