CNN and host Jake Tapper have both apologized for an on-screen banner that Tapper said was “unacceptable” and “horrified” him when it appeared during his show on Monday.
The vacationing Tapper quickly responded to outraged viewer comments with several Twitter posts explaining that, despite his absence, he was “furious” and his “staff has heard from me.”
During a segment on President-elect Donald Trump’s transition, CNN’s Jim Sciutto spoke with two media correspondents about alt-right leader Richard Spencer and whether Trump needs to formally denounce and disavow alt-right groups.
Sciutto quoted Spencer, the president of The National Policy Institute who coined the term “alt-right,” and described his words as “hate-filled garbage” against Jews. Spencer’s quote read, ”One wonders if these people are people at all, or instead soulless golem.”
The on-screen phrase during the segment stated, “Alt-Right Founder Questions if Jews are People.”
CNN issued a statement calling that caption “poor judgment and we very much regret it and apologize.”
Assemblyman Hikind gave YWN the following statement following the incident:
“The ‘are Jews people’ caption that CNN left on-screen for roughly 2 minutes during a Monday broadcast is outrageous, irresponsible and uncalled for,” Assemblyman Hikind said. “There has been a nonstop attempt by the mass media to push its liberal progressive agenda while doing all it can to undermine President-elect Donald Trump, and it needs to stop now. Trump was elected by the American people, who spoke loud and clear on Election Day. I truly wish the media was just as dedicated to exposing malicious anti-Semitic rhetoric on the left. It’s time for fair and balanced reporting.”

Good words Mr. Hikind
This is the kind of media YWN gullible ones get their information from. Wonder how long it’ll take these ostriches to get their heads out of the sand.
Nice after the horse is out of the barn to apolize. Why isn’t someone fired
For this. If it was anti black or Moslem
They would be
On the one hand I think we obviously need to condemn and point out the dangers of the Left including Bernie Sanders and the attempt by Sen Schumer to make Congressman Ellis head of the DNC despite his leaning towards the Palestinians record which would only more clearly make Republican the party for those concerned with Israel. And many other examples including support for BDS and ignoring the Palestinian endless incitement to kill that leads to Palestinian attacks. On the other hand if Trump is the only candidate endorsed by the KKK and Neo Nazis and after his election KKK and neo Nazis celebrate and come out from under the rocks we SHOULD ask that our President Elect OPenly CLEARLY Condemn specifically All Hate Groups That TArget Jews, Blacks, Moslems, Asians or anyone and that he is President of all Americans and Will Not Tolerate any Unlawful acts of Hate. He is after all elected to lead the country and all its citizens and to protect all its members.
Anyone watching a video of this weekend’s meeting of the Alt Right group in Washington D.C. had to be horrified that the blatantly anti-Semitic, racist words, body language etc. were not taken directly out of vintage Hitler era rallies from the late 1930s. Trump has found time to tweet multiple times about a perceived insult to Pence by the cast of Hamilton, and an unflattering SNL skit but has remained totally silent about this abomination. Hikind may not care about Trump’s silence but the rest of the Jewish community does and is terrified.
Ask Wolf Blitzer that question. His parents were Holocaust survivors and worked hard for Israel.
why is mr jake so surprised over what his staff is doing while he’s on vacation? he should give them all a bonus for being such good students by emulating their boss by being such experienced biased reporters.
What am I missing here? The banner said Alt-Right Questions. . . That is true. Can they not report the news? Should we not be informed citizens? Why is nobody condemning the statement itself? Why only the banner? All the banners are simply bullet points of what was said live. What is all the fuss?
I refuse to mention your user name #5 if anything, you should be called katanhadora. If you can’t help your liberal hands and fingers from posting nonsense as you always do, at least don’t have the chutzpah of speaking in the name of the community. The religious Jewish community repudiates the left and everything they stand for. Period.
Hikinds response is mind boggling and makes no sense. Attack CNN which was trying to expose the hate of the alt right while giving Trump who had played to and empowered these horrible people a free hand. It is time for Hikind to go.
