As 5776 comes to close, Magen David Adom (MDA) has released terror statistics.

· 5776 saw an upsurge of terror from the prior year

· There was a total of 309 terror attacks

·  130 rock throwing incidents

·  123 stabbings

· 31 vehicular attacks

·  25 shootings

·  1 missile

·  1 bus bomb

· 40 Israelis killed

· 458 Israelis injured

This new reality of single perpetrator attacks, also known as “lone wolves”, occurred very often and in all areas of the country. Such attacks require the utmost level of preparedness from Magen David Adom in order to effectively save lives. As Israel’s primary organization to provide emergency medical services, this past year MDA teams were constantly on-call reporting to the field within five minutes of the call to the emergency hotline in order to treat all those in need of care regardless of their ethnicity, beliefs, or gender.

Eli Bin, MDA Director General, said in a statement: “I would like to thank MDA personnel and volunteers for their hard work amidst this nationwide terror outburst. Israel does not stand alone in this struggle, the United States and many European countries are also facing imminent terror threats. MDA sees it as its international responsibility to share its own knowledge and experience from mass casualty incidents with other emergency medicine organizations around the world. I’d also like to express my condolences to the victims’ families and to wish a rapid recovery to those who were wounded.”
