A week into bein hazmanim and R”L another tragedy strikes the community as a 9-year-old chareidi boy from Yerushalayim died in a fatal drowning incident in a private pool in a northern area swimming pool. Police report the child, Moshe Bar-Shalom, was transported to an area hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead.
The incident occurred in Moshav S’dei Alon, in the northern district. The child was transported to HaEmek Hospital in Afula. Tiveria police are investigating the fatal incident.
Ichud Hatzalah reports “The child drowned in a pool in a yard of a tzimmer where the family was vacationing. When the team arrived he was in cardiac arrest. CPR was initiated and he was later transported to HaEmek Hospital by ambulance, where doctors pronounced him dead”.
In fact, CPR began when the Magen David Adom dispatcher instructed persons on the scene what to do, and EMTs from Ichud Hatzalah continued. When MDA paramedics arrived they treated and transported the child to HaEmek. The levaya was held on Sunday night in the Sanhedria Cemetery in Yerushalayim.
It is reported in the chareidi community in Israel there were six drowning deaths last year. This year there have been numerous drowning deaths beginning with 10 Sivan, when talmid yeshiva Shalom Mori died in Beit Zayit; and 16 Sivan talmid yeshiva Akiva Shachar died in a separate beach in Ashdod; 12 Tammuz talmid Roi Eliur died at the Nachshulim beach and this latest case, Moshe Bar-Shalom.
