On motzei Shabbos the news spread of the petira of Rabbi Yisrael Butman z”l, the Chabad shaliach in Nahariya and head of the Oholei Yosef Yitzchok network of schools in Eretz Yisrael. The niftar was 56-years-old.

The rav suffered a cardiac arrest last week from which he never regained consciousness. He is survived by Rebitzen Shifra and four children.

The niftar, who was born in the United States, was the son of HaRav HaChossid HaRav Sholom Dov Ber Butman and Rebitzen, Devorah as well as brothers Rav Yosef Yitzchak, Rav Yehuda, Rav Yochanan and sister Mrs. Michla Segal.

This is the third tragedy to strike the Chabad community of shluchim of late. Last week the shaliach of Illinois Rabbi Daniel Moskowitz was niftar and recently, the shaliach to Beit Shean, Rabbi Yaakov Shmuelevitz was also niftar.

The levaya is took place at 10:00 from the Chabad Shul in Nahariya to Yerushalayim, Shamgar and kvura in Har HaZeisim.
