Gur Fundraiser in Greece

gurIn a resort village near Athens Greece, a fundraiser for Mosdos Gur will be held beginning Thursday afternoon, 27 Cheshvan 5774. The event called a “dinner” is held once every two years and it attracts 120 of the chassidus’ major donors. According to a Ladaat report, entry fee to the exclusive event is $70,000 per person. In earlier years the event was held during the week but this time organizers opted to begin on Thursday afternoon, wishing to host a weekend event.

MK Rav Yaakov Litzman will be taking part. He traveled with the Gerrer Rebbe Shlita on Monday. The major fundraising “dinner” will culminate after davening shachris on Sunday, 1 Rosh Chodesh Kislev, so as one can see it is a great deal more than a “dinner”.

The kashering of the hotel was left to Rav Dov Landau who completed the job two weeks ahead of the event. He then began kashering the kitchen with the assistance of his team of avreichim.

Israel’s ambassador to Greece will be visiting the event on Thursday and he will meet with MK Litzman. A number of Greek cabinet ministers are also expected to attend and extend the government’s best wishes to the rebbe and his delegation.
