Amongst the hustle and bustle of a busy NYC Sunday morning and in the shadows of the United Nations, America saw a determined leader, a lone voice of courage, one Congressman who decided enough was enough and stood up to the World and to its madness. Time and again, politicians assert their position to make principled statements but what is ever more rare is the unique committed leader who takes that moral imperative and creates meaningful and decisive action. Long Island’s Peter King, veteran Congressman and famously outspoken defender of core American values, publicly challenged the Obama Administration’s misguided American- Israeli foreign policy and the absurd charade of America’s presence on the  UN Human Rights Council – at a press conference today at the United Nations (see YWN Video). King lashed out at the overwhelming and blatant prejudice Israel has been subjected to from the flawed world body and the unfair treatment it is receiving from the international media. He directly questioned the direction Turkey, in its provocative support of the IHH flotilla, has chosen in defiance of its relationship with the West. He fought back against  the biased and grossly one-sided UN Human Right Council in its repeated and irrational condemnation’s of Israel. Above all, Peter King, an Irish Catholic, stood up in defense of the Jewish people and the State of Israel. For this alone he has earned our eternal thanks and gratitude.

Though Congressman King does not have an exceptionally large identifiable Jewish constituency, he nevertheless has been a most outspoken and passionate defender of Israel and the role it plays as America’s greatest ally.

Sadly, as we  know all to well, we are surrounded by numerous elected officials who have no shame in telling us what we want to hear only to lose their voice and their principles when it matters most. Not Peter King.

Congressman King has never been shy about America’s fight against Islamic fanaticism and as the ranking member and former Chairman of the Homeland Security Committee he has been a staunch advocate for  American values and a major leader in increasing America’s vigilance against ever increasing threats from a radicalized enemy.

Today, Mr. King introduced, the America Stands with Israel Act. This legislation reaffirms America’s support for Israel by calling for the removal of the U.S. from the United Nations Human Rights Council and prohibiting the use of American taxpayer dollars to fund a U.N. investigation into the flotilla incident.

Rep. King has called on his fellow elected officials, both Republican and Democrat, to join him in co-sponsoring this vital legislation. (America Stands with Israel Act (H.R. 5501) already has 38 original co sponsors)

Mr. King correctly states that this bill is not a political issue but a human one. We couldn’t agree with him more and call on all elected officials,(Democrat and Republican) to  lend their name to Mr. King’s important legislation.
