Deputy Minister of Defense (Labor) Matan Vilnai, a retired IDF major-general, told the media on Tuesday that he views the next war that Israel will face will engulf the entire nation, not just one of her borders.
Speaking at a northern area ceremony, the deputy minister stated that the strength of the residents of the State of Israel will be put to the test, and the nation’s endurance will undoubtedly to some extent determine the outcome of the conflict.
Vilnai’s words are well in line with predictions from senior military intelligence assessments, all pointing to a multi-faceted war, one that will involved Hamas along the southern border, Hizbullah along the northern border, and the enemies will be supported on all fronts by Iran and Syria, who play a major role in arming and training Hizbullah and Hamas, working tenaciously towards actualizing Israel’s destruction.
Intelligence assessments speak of rockets being launched into the homefront, with recent evaluations of the situation stating that rockets today can easily reach the heart of Tel Aviv, including Ben-Gurion International Airport.

So WHY don’t these military geniuses launch a pre-emptive war (like the 6 Day War in ’67) instead of waiting to RE-act after suffering heavy losses (like the Yom Kippur War in ’73).
Are they afraid the world, and their good friend (ha-ha) obama will condemn them?!?
We always get condemned by the world regardless of what we do or don’t do.

Don’t wait until the enemy is ready.
Don’t fight a war on the enemy’s terms.
Don’t worry about enemy losses.
Almost 40 years ago I attended a lecture by an IDF general. He said one of the IDF’s major strategies was “b’tachbulot ta’aseh lecha milchama” – with trickery/deception make war. He said Israel knows the enemy has 50 times more men and more weapons, so you don’t fight head on, man for man. You have to use “Yiddishe kup”, saichel, to create scenarios where the enemy’s overall superior numbers don’t give any advantage.
I think the military and political leaders of today (in the U.S. too) have forgotten how to win wars.
With Vilnai speaking the defeatist way he is, and a truly pathetic excuse for a Defense Minister in Barak, we all better start really re-doubling our efforts in Tefilla, in Torah learning, in acts of chesed, in being mis’chanain to HKB”H.
With leaders like Israel has today, we have truly reached the time when “Ayn Lanu Al Mee le’hee’sha’ayn Ela Al Avinu She’ba’shamayim!
Unfortunately AynOdMilvado1, I believe the general is right on with his estimation. “The hearts of kings and their officers are in Hashem’s hands.” We know that it is up to Hashem if there will be a pre-emptive strike or not.
But, as a people, I believe very strongly that we have many, many zechusim in our favor. Just look at all of the chesed that has been produced as of Rubashkin’s tzaros, R”L. Look how people are turning out to donate money and food and opening up all types of food pantries and clothing outlets. Just look at what Hatzoloh does and they are 100% supported by private donations. These and much more will save us. I am confident!
#1 is right, bit i believe the coming assault on israel will be atomic and that if Yisroel is to survive, she must stike preemptively. It is indeed in Hashem’s hands!
Back in the day, the media was not nearly as dominent as like today. Nowadays when Israeli forces carry out a raid, it gets reported and condemned by the UN. They cant manuver like they did in the past. Half the war is in the media. They just cant start a war because the world will look at them as the agressors and public opinion unfortunatly counts. Although I agree with #1, I dont see it happening.
This is hardly news; it’s predicted by all the Nevi’im – just read the Haftarah of PEssach or Sukkoth, or the book of Daniel.
Well, I, for one, do not feel the enemies are competent at anything unless it’s blowing themselves up. I have seen video of arab goons in soccer sweat suits with launchers on their shoulders clumsily fumbling around, looking spastic. The armed forces in Israel have sharp and smart men and women. The problem is the willingness to use military intelligence, and then act on it with the strength they are capable of. Incidentally, arab muslims are intimidating every nation on every continent, EVEN black muslims in the Sudan. The modern world just sits and takes the bullying.
Not to overindulge in the point, but the most recent “for instance” was the summer Hamas lobbed missiled into Israel from souther Lebanon. Israel acted with surgical precision and moved up into Lebanon with great success. Unfortunately, they stopped due to world pressure who said that Israel was using unequal measures, or some nonsense like that.
I have zero confidence in the arab world to coordinate anything significant, militarily. I have a tiny bit more confidence that Israel can fight to win and take no prisoners. Heaven forbid they have to do this.
Isaiah 17:1 says Damascus will be destroyed and “It will be a ruinous heap”. This is one of the oldest cities and has never been a ruinous heap, but it is predicted to happen.
Israel is to defeat Iran: The book of Esther is the same situation as it is today.
HAMAN (similar to Ahmadinejad) was promoted to a high position. Esther 3:1
HAMAN in his wrath, “sought to destroy the Jews”. Esther 3:6.
HAMAN sends letters to all provinces to kill all the Jews. Esther 3:13
HAMAN builds gallows (nuclear bombs?)to hang Mordecai the Jew. Esther 5:14
HAMAN is killed by being hanged on the same gallows (nuclear bombs?) that he had built to hang the Jew Mordecai on. Esther 8:7 (this is at a time Haman thinks every thing is going his way, like Ahmadinejad). Esther 6:6-9 & 7:6,9
HAMAN’S house (family) is also killed by hanging on the gallows. Esther 8:7
The KING grants the Jews, self protection, to “destroy, to slay, and to cause to perish” all those that would assault(kill) them (the Jews), both little ones and women”. Esther 8:11
HAMAN’S ten sons are also hanged. Esther 9:14
On a pre-determined “day”, the Jews would “in the day that their enemies hoped (planned) to have power over them (Jews), to the contrary, the Jews had rule (victory) over them that HATED them.” (pre-emptive strike?) Esther 9:1
Notice the similarity of these words;
HAMAN = The “Agagite” from Persia(Iranian) Esther 3:1
HAMAS = The terrorist organization supported by Iran, Syria and others whose goal is to KILL the Jews because of HATE, like Haman.
HASSAN = A Wahabbi Sunni Muslim who founded “The Muslim Brotherhood”, from which “Hamas” emerged from. (Hassan al-Banna).
Notice the first four letters of Haman and Ahmadinejad are the same letters.
When Israel (in a day) strikes Iran’s underground nuclear facilities, with the bunker busting bombs, if there are any nuclear bombs(maybe the missing WMD’s that were in Iraq?) stored there, then they would be detonated. Since Iran claims there are none being stored in Iran, then Iran would destroy itself on it’s own “gallows” (nuclear bombs). Esther 8:11 & 9:14. That is the same as Haman and his entire household, including women and children, being hanged on the gallows he built to destroy the Jews. Esther 9-14 & 8:11
God said to Israel, “I will bless them that bless thee, and curse them that curseth thee”. Genesis 12-3. Something to think about.
