Knesset security officials are concerned over what may be a case of illegal wiretapping of phones of the Ravitz family of Beitar Illit.
It appears the concerns began with “strange noises” heard on the phone by members of the family. A routine inspection into the cause of the noise revealed a wireless eavesdropping device.
According to the Chareidim report, those involved are more than a bit curious as to who is eavesdropping on the phone of Yitzchak Ravitz, who heads Degel HaTorah in the community, or perhaps the eavesdropping is intended to listen in on the conversations of his daughter Rivke, who is Knesset Speaker Reuven Rivlin’s bureau chief. She has been an employee of Speaker Rivlin for over a decade.
The fact that she heads the speaker’s office compels Knesset security to become involved. As a matter of fact, in keeping with protocol, she notified the Knesset security office of the strange noises on the phone, leading to the discovery of the listening device. The device was installed amateurishly, not professionally, a fact that facilitated detecting it.
At first it was believed the device was installed to listen into the conversations of Yitzchak Ravitz but security officials appear confident that the target was Rivka, in her capacity as a senior official in the office of the Knesset speaker.
According to the report, Yitzchak Ravitz declined comment.

Actually Rivka is Yitzchak Ravitz’s wife not daughter! Please try to keep your facts correct. Also Rivka was an employee of her father-in-law (MK Rabbi Avraham Ravitz zt”l) for many years until the law was changed and it became illegal to employ family members. She then moved over to MK Reuvain Rivlin’s office but it has been for less than a decade.
