Jury Selection to Begin in Latest Terror Trial Downtown

chnJury selection is set to begin Monday in the trial of an Islamic preacher charged with conspiring to support al-Qaeda.

It’s the latest trial of an alleged terrorist to come to a New York court.

Al-Qaeda spokesman Sulaiman Abu Ghaith was convicted here last month.

Mustafa Kamel Mustafa, also known as Abu Hamza al Basri, has been in the United States since his extradition from Great Britain in 2012.

Prosecutors say he tried to support the terror network in the late 1990s by attempting to set up a terrorist training camp in Oregon.

He’s also accused of helping to kidnap two Americans and 14 others in Yemen.

He has pleaded not guilty.

The defense meanwhile accuses the government of promoting bias by mentioning the September 11th attacks, and Osama Bin Laden in connection with this case.
