If treasury officials do not back down from the planned tax reform plan, next week, the Histadrut National Labor Federation will launch a public sector strike, which in the past impacted all areas of life. While Histadrut leader Ofir Eini has not announced just how comprehensive such a strike will be, it can include all government offices, public hospitals, postal, rail and other transportation services, seaports and Ben-Gurion International Airport.
The nation’s labor union opposes the proposed tax cuts since Finance Minister Roni Bar-On plans to make up the lost revenue by taxing workers’ savings plans.
In other strike news, after some 10 weeks of sanctions, the state-employed social workers this week finally announced they cannot continue and have shut down offices around the country, bringing service to a halt. They are not demanding a salary increase, but they are calling on the state to hire an additional 1,000 professionals to assist in coping with the growing need.
The Postal Authority has stepped up its strike, and Bituach Leumi (National Insurance Institute) workers have also stopped office hours to the public as they pressure the government in an ongoing work dispute.

is anyone still working
there has been limited garbage pick-up for a few days already and no recycling pick-up (plastic bottles).The bins are overflowing! There are cutbacks by the “doar” and you have to wait over an hour in line so they can tell you that they are not taking care of these transactions today.
It’s amazing that there are americans who want biger government. THIS is what you get from bigger government.
