Democratic mayoral candidate Bill de Blasio visited the Satmar community (Ahronim) in Williamsburg, in what is the largest gathering of Satmar Hasidim, following 3-days of celebration with the Grand Rabbi – Reb. Ahron Teitelbaum.
Mr. de Blasio arrived a hour early and met with the leaders of the community, in a meeting closed to press.
Mr. de Blasio did not manage to greet the crowd, estimated around 10,000, leaving the scene before the Rebbe stepped out to greet the thousands of Hasidim gathered outside.
Our photographer managed, though, to capture the moment Mr. de Blasio peeked out of the window overlooking the crowd assembled outside.

Its good to see that the Satmar finally are getting behind the next mayor of NYC after their prior support of a losing candidate. Its a credit to Rav Ahron,Z’tl, that he would meet with a candidate whose positions on certain issues such as gay marriage and tax credits for yeshivos may differ with the position of the Satmar.
de Blasio’s margin of victory putting him over the 40% mark was 5000 votes (per the Board of Election final numbers released yesterday), a margin given to him by Satmar.
B”H he will end the metzitza b’peh tyranny regulation implemented by Bloomberg.
The mob of people were probably waiting outside to lynch DeBallsio for his anti-Jewish/anti–Frim positions on every issue. He will promise money to everyone for their vote but he won’t be able to deliver. Don’t be fooled by this menivil DeBallsio. He is another Dinkins, Y’mach shmoy.
