It appears that Yonatan Yosef is following in the footsteps of his late father, Rabbi Yaakov Yosef ZT”L, who was the eldest son of Maran HaGaon HaRav Ovadia Yosef Shlita. Yonatan has joined the Kav HaTefer (border) ticket in the Jerusalem race headed by activist Aryeh King. The young Yosef is running on a slate competing for votes against Shas.
Rav Ovadia’s grandson explained his actions on his Facebook page, stating he is simply following the instructions of his father, who told him to seek local office towards preserving the integrity of Yerushalayim. King’s team is active year round seeking to reclaim Jewish areas that have been overrun by Arabs, such as Shimon HaTzaddik (Wadi Joz), Beit Haninah and Maale Zeitim to name examples. King is a longtime activist working tirelessly to resettle Arab occupied areas of the capital.

Aryeh King is a tzaddik gamor and completely dedicated to Yerushalayim hashelama, glad that a YOSEF will be joining him in his ‘holy work’.
His father zt”l left the knesset when shas agreed to give away parts of eretz hakodesh. I hope he follows his fathers ways to fight for torah not just money
