In a brazen act of public Chilul Hashem, and Bizayon Hatorah, one Satmar Chosid who attended Sunday’s Satmar-organized anti-Israel protest in Manhattan’s Federal Plaza, took the protest to an entirely new level. The man held up a large sign which had the word “STOP”, and called Maran Hagon HaRav Aron Leib Shteinman Shlita by his name, without even the title “rabbi”. Below that were the words “corrupting and proselytizing our children through Israeli military”.
Only one person out of the crowd of 20,000 grabbed the sign away from the man, at which point the NYPD intervened, and the man was escorted away from the area. It is unknown if he was arrested, or just driven to another area, as he was seen being placed into a police car.
Just last week in a Satmar Bais Medrash in Kiryas Yoel, a sign was seen hanging which called for people to daven for the downfall of the gadol hador when reciting “Vilamalshinim” in Shemonah Esrei [Click image to the left to ENLARGE].
Approximately ten years ago, when Maran rav Shteinman visited New York, thousands of people participated in a Kabolas Ponim in Boro Park. At that event, hundreds of Satmar Chassidim protested outside the massive tent at the 18th Avenue park in Boro Park. Dozens of buses brought Bochrim from the Satmar Yeshivos to protest, where they stood holding degrading signs and calling the Gadol Hador names for three hours.

#1 – How many people even realized that this person was holding such a sign?
#2 – Perhaps the Headline should read; “One person out of 20,000 holds a Disgusting Sign Against Gadol Hador”

#4 – And finally; once one person grabbed the sign away, what was anyone else who saw this supposed to do? Attack him and then get arrested?

Satmar has a long history of zero tolerance for anyone not agreeing with their Shita. It’s not just one guy with a sign. Speak to anyone of them. They call him “Shteinman”.
From what I can see on your video, it looks like the organizers worked quickly to have the sign removed before very many people could see it.

Why are you working so hard to put down the demonstration. Rav Steinman didn’t say it could be detrimental. He just said it wouldn’t help. Other gedolim thought it could help, but you are trying hard to make sure that nothing good can come of it. Why?
Satmar Rebbe (Aronim) refused to be part of Citifield Internet Asifa last year because they had “English Speeches” and the tziyonim from the “agidah” we’re there…. The same tziyonim who were there yesterday.

The entire thing – protest and signs – was a massive chillul Hashem.
The 1 person holding the sign represents all of Satmar. They routinely use this language against the Gadol Hador, and for that matter, against any rav who disagrees with their radical ideology.
The issue was not one lunatic holding a sign that is a bizayon for one of the top gadolim in the world today and certainly at a level far above the two feuding brothers whose hateful litigation in the secular courts has been an ongoing chillul hashem over more than a decade. Yes, of course there are a few Satmar modos that do chesed but the focus of recent Satmar efforts (among both the Aronites and Zalmanites) is to instill hatred of the other side, often manifest in violence, and to promote a shita of intolerance towards the Medinah and Tzionim. YWN has done a great job to report the news from a proper Yeshivish perspective and cut through the misrepresentations of a deceitful Satmar propaganda machuine.
Why is the “Chasid” holding the sign holding his tefillin bag as well? Did he plan on soendig the night in the city?
I’m not surprised. As #4 said, Satmar has no respect for anyone who’s not part of their cult. A Rebbe of mine once told me that he was discussing the idea of an eruv in NYC with a Satmar chossid. The Satmar guy starting talking about “yenem Feinstein”. Like I said, no respect. But when you have a community where the leader hates his own brother, what do you expect?

Why bring up a story from ten years ago where the exact opposite happened from what happened yesterday?
Furthermore, even if I am mistaken, and Rav Steinman thought the demonstration would be counter productive – I’m sure that he would be delighted if he were wrong and in fact it produced results. So now that it has taken place, everyone, even the strongest followers of Rav Steinman, should be working to show it in a positive light so that something useful can come from it, not to denigrate it, as you seem to be doing.
From what I remember from the demonstrations that I participated in years ago the NYPD prohibits sticks to hold signs, but somehow this chossid had a sign with a stick.
If they have to demonstrate against something in Israel – why don’t they fly there enmass and demostrate?

When will we finally organize against these “co-religionists” of ours. Certainly they are entitled to different opinions. idachgissa – you are wrong. These people came to scream and shout to drown out Rav Shteinman when he spoke in Boro Park. The Beirach Moshe was still Rebbeh at that time.

If Rav Shteinman had said to go, I would have joined even the Satmar Chasidim. I’m a Chasid but will listen to the Gedolim in Artzeinu hakedosha when it comes to any issue regarding acheinu bnei yisroel in E’Y.
We can defeat Satmar. We can start by boycotting any item with a Satmar hechsher.

Boycot products with Satmar Hashgocha!
The police and the organizers could do nothing about that lone wolf who represented no one but himself and answers to no rabbi, to stop him. It is legal in America to hold the most despicable signs at a protest under the free speech provisions.
Neither the organizers nor the police could stop him.
Yet, it must be noted that the organizer — repeatedly — publicly called out on the microphones for the signs to be removed.
A probability that that sign was designed, printed and distributed just like all the other Satmar RHETORIC/INCITEMENT signs.

The Lone Sign Holder, represents only Himself, he is a known Psychotic, I attended the protest and walked around the area for about 2 hours and did Not see him, it is very likely that he was there for as long it takes to snap a picture, there is no need for the Satmar rebbe to condemm evrey Meshugane and Satmar did Not protest against Rav Shteinman in BP 10 years ago No Buses came from the Satmar Yeshiva, neither Satmar rebbe (R’ Aron or R’ Zalmen Leib)or any Authrized person (Rosh Yeshiva, Menahel,Gabai)sent their bucherim or their kollel yungleit.
I spoke to someone who was there and he said this person wasnt playing with a full deck. He showed up in vasseh zuckin along with talis and tfilin, seemingly EXPECTING to be taken away!
