Eli Beer, founder of United Hatzalah of Israel Receives ‘Man of the Year’ Award from NYS Senator Eric Adams

New York State Senator Eric Adams and over twenty VIP personnel including elected government officials and members of New York state law enforcement, joined together last night to present Eli Beer, Founder of United Hatzalah of Israel with a special citation from the State Senate, as exemplary service person of 2012. Also among attendees were the coordinators of Hatzola from Williamsburg, Crown Heights and many respected community leaders from New York City.

The New York State Senate’s Homeland Security and Transportation committees recognize one person each year for their groundbreaking work and visionary leadership, which made Eli Beer’ lifesaving mission and creation of United Hatzalah a perfect fit.

United Hatzalah is a non-profit organization comprised of 1,700 medically trained and equipped volunteers who come from all religious backgrounds, both Jewish and Arab alike. Volunteers are scattered across all of Israel and work together using proprietary GPS technology to respond to any emergency call within 2 -4 minutes. Last year alone, United Hatzalah volunteers responded to nearly 193,000 emergency calls, providing a lifesaving triage of medical care in the first critical moments.

After speaking at the World Economic Forum in Davos this year, Eli was selected as a Young Global Leader and is now working to spread United Hatzalah’s pioneered model of emergency first response throughout the world. This month he will be traveling to both South America and Brazil, working with the country’s leaders to launch their own Hatzalah (rescue) services.

Senator Adams said in a statement, “Eli Beer is an example of a person that gives his own life away to help others in the most difficult of times. Despite the immense political and cultural pressures felt in Israel, Eli and the United Hatzalah volunteers, who are the soul of the organization, go on everyday to complete their dedicated mission to save all lives, no matter what the personal cost may be.”

In response to receiving the proclamation from the NY State Senate, Beer said, “I was so honored to be recognized by this group of influential leaders and hope that we can work together to continue to spread United Hatzalah’s lifesaving mission and future goals.” “One important goal we have is to raise enough money to fund 3,000 volunteers that are needed, in order to provide a 90-second medical response for any person in need, throughout the entire State of Israel, for free.”
