A 9-month-old girl was found unconscious in a vehicle in Ramat Gan on Monday afternoon 23 Tammuz 5773. It was learned that the child was forgotten in the vehicle for a number of hours. When EMS responders arrived on the scene they began resuscitation efforts but the child was pronounced dead on the scene after it was clear to all that it was too late.
Police report the dad dropped off his twins at their summer camp in the morning. He was supposed to bring the infant to daycare as well, but apparently forgot. He explains after dropping off the children he received a troubling phone call from work that distracted him, and he later forgot about the infant asleep in the car seat in the rear of his SUV. He parked his SUV at their apartment and then took his scooter to work. He returned home after work, during the afternoon hours. During that time, the infant remained in the vehicle, until minutes before 16:00, with police stating the temperature in the SUV reached 70C (158F). The way the vehicle was parked the child in the car seat was not in the line of vision of passersby.
Zaki Heller of Magen David Adom reports the call came in at 16:00. He adds that paramedics did everything they could but it was too late to save the baby. Police are investigating.
Neighbors who know the couple told police the parents are marvelous individuals and dedicated parents who are simply destroyed by the realization of what occurred as a result of the dad’s actions. They told police he is a good person and an outstanding father.
