Why not volunteer in a nursing home? Be an intern for a sheitelmacher? Do something for someone that will make you feel appreciated. Short of that, boredom is not the worst thing in the world.

if you are in Brooklyn,Mekimi needs volunteers to sing/play music for sick people. My close friend does it;it’s her musical outlet.

Look for internship jobs which doesn’t pay but you can learn a lot and looks great on a resume.

Toomuch00: Don’t panic. You are not the 1st and won’t be the last to be in this situation. Hopefully you will find a productive way to spend the summer. But even if it is not what you wanted or hoped, it’s not the end of the world. You can get through the summer. Next year will probably be better.

Do you have any frum mishpacha in Eretz Yisrael you could spend the summer (or part of it) with?

Then you would just have to pay for the airfare.

How about you give me $2500, and Ill take you on a trip all expenses included! here in america for a week?

    #879116

What city are you from? Some places have day camps that pay decent money and fill time.

How about Beis Ezra/women’s league? You get paid, you do tremendously meaningful work and you get great experience that looks wonderful on any resume. Better yet (I can only speak for the people who work at the guy’s homes here) the counselors are real bnei aliya and the kind of people anyone would want to be around.

popa: Road trip? I have the first week in June.

It’s never too early to work on your shidduch profile, so….

Sit at the beach and work on your tan 🙂

Seriously, I like Popa’s idea. You can also try bikeriding (as a girl, you don’t have to worry about minyan & the sort).

Another option is to use the money saved by not going to camp on a project, such as rebuilding a car, cake decorating classes, or even sign up for early college courses at your local college.

    Good luck.

you can try applying to Oorah’s girl zone. from what I’ve heard the staff is definitely bais yaakov crowd and its not the typical camp experience. You have to feel comfortable working in a kiruv environment and be VERY dovoted and commited. Its a huge mitzvah and very rewarding.

Theres also some sort of Bais Yaakov camp that tours the Colorado (or canadian) Rockies. I spoke to a few girls that went 2 summers ago, and they said it was an amazing experience. (I can find out more info for u if ur interested)

The camp in the rockies is called Bais Yaakov of the Rockies. It’s supposed to be a lot of fun. Another camp you may want to consider in the midwest is Maaravah. There’s also Camp Frontier run by Chevi Garfinkel in California. It’ a touring/hiking camp and is supposed to be absolutely amazing. Good luck with whatever you choose!

“ive been extremely depressed lately and full of dread.

Don’t take this the wrong way but deciding which camp to go to or what activity to do in july and spending good money doing it is not exactly worthy of filling you with dread and depression. Take a chill pill and look at everything in the right perspective.

Yes you need to have a plan of what to do in the summer but, there are THOUSANDS of frum kids that would love to be able to have your dilemma, who mamash are full of dread because they cant afford anything at all to do this summer or their home situation keeps them anchored at home.

    Under your header of

” PLEASE HELP ME” I thought you were in a chas vishalom true tragic situation until I read your post more appropriate would have been to simply write about asking if anyone has ideas for the summer.

Please remember to thank Hashem for what you have and then you will be able to calmly resolve your issue at hand

abcd2- i see your point, and yea maybe i did come off as spoiled/ungrateful. that was totally not my intention, but when i think of sitting at home with nothing to do and all my friends are away, and i have absolutely nothing planned, then yea i get a little bit depressed.

the reason i made my thread title so pleading was because i was just trying to attract some ideas asap.

and if i really was in a tragic situation i dont think i would solve it by posting it on a thread in a chat room full of strangers. but ok i sorta get your point.

You have my permission (not that you need it) to be nervous and anxious but not depressed.Depression solves nothing and you and I both know that you will definitely be doing something come July regardless of the fact that right now you don’t know what that might be.

You said before the cost of the camps you would like to attend cost to much. What about between now and July babysit/tutor in your neighborhood /help before pesach to make extra money and perhaps you can split the difference with your parents I guarantee by the time july comes around you can get between 700-thousand dollars put together(if that would be enough)additionally, some camps (at least i know some boys camps are) are now also offering partial programs so you could maybe go for two -three weeks and then have just a week or two to worry about

There are different organizations that work with families with little kids who have big sister/big brother programs. During the summer sometimes a big sister is needed perhaps you can work as a big sister it is much different then working in a day camp.

Ask a teacher that you trust she might be of help

Also might i suggest being that as you are entering your senior year you can use some of your free time to study topics that will help you for when you take the SAT so you’ll be ahead of the game

What’s there to do in Israel for the summer

First of all- I don’t think this is the place for a girl in a beis yaakov to be posting about what to do for the summer. Like for instance the guy who said to give him $2500 and he will take you anywhere should be put down.

Second of all, shouldn’t you ask your parents what to do?

And second of all, the beach isn’t the best place for a beis yaakov girl either. And you’d be bored about a half a week sitting at the beach. And third- you should be careful not to give out too much personal information about yourself either.
