My Health Insurance said that if your over 19 you don’t need to see. They of course didn’t say those exact words but they said that if your over 19 you dont qualify for a discount on glasses. Is this a ObamaCare (or lack of it) thing?
My Health Insurance said you don’t need teeth. They of course didn’t say those exact words, but they said they do not cover dental work.
My health insurance said I do not need to eat. They of course didn’t say those exact words but they said that they won’t pay my grocery bill.
Gamanit – mine says it in almost those words, when I was on public aid, they wouldn’t cover having adult teeth fixed, only pulled.
Medicaid doesn’t cover root canals, but they do cover dentures. Mine doesn’t cover any dental work at all, they say to get separate dental insurance. So that’s what I had to do…
DaasYochid, this is no joking matter. Health insurance is supposed to cover medical expenses. Teeth and eyes are parts of the human body and therefore must be covered.
You can buy decent glasses online for under $50.

My point (and I’m glad if you found the way I expressed it humorous) is that medical insurance is not supposed to cover anything related to human health. Many plans don’t cover dental and vision, and unless they mislead you, there’s really no tayna against the insurance company.
Yes, but why doesn’t the insurance cover it instead of the expensive stitches and surgery for people who bump into things or trip (as a result of no glasses)?
I guess insurance figures that most people will take care of purchasing glasses on their own. Like they purchase groceries and don’t land in the emergency room for starvation complications.
Numerous plans offer coverage for glasses. You purchased the wrong plan.
I don’t think any insurance covers glasses. The insurance we had pre-aliyah covered eye exams, but not glasses. We paid for glasses out of our pre-tax flexible spending account.
Mine does. Because I got it before obamacare. But it doesn’t cover childbirth–good thing I’m a man.
I am wearing glasses paid for by my health insurance provider. True, it does not cover the entire amount, but the annual allowance went a long way to covering my glasses, and with the supplemental coverage I purchased I can get quite an expensive pair of frames. Again, purchase a plan that comes with such coverage.
I purchased Tznius Insurance, Inc. They cover everything!
