(Israel) Another Case of Cyber Terror

According to officials of the Latin Media Group, they are victims of “cyber terrorism” as pro-Arab hackers penetrated their website (http://argentina.co.il/), with the hacker leaving his signature as “Abu Salaman”.

Damage estimates are in the area of NIS hundreds of thousands, as the hackers left anti-Semitic and anti-Israeli photos and content on a number of websites in the attacks that took place this past shabbos. The website mentioned above is the firm’s flagship site, a very popular site among Southern Americans in Israel.

Content implanted in the hacker attack includes a burning Israeli flag, equating Zionism with cancer and many photos of injured children, taken in Gaza during Operation Cast Lead. Other sites hit include the Israel Postal Service Spanish site, and the Israel Journalists Association in Jerusalem.

The hacker penetrated the server housing some 40 websites, but he did not stop there, successfully also taking down a backup server. The Latin Media Group is owned by Danny Schwartz, operating out of a Netanya office for about 11 years.

Schwartz told the daily Yisrael HaYom that his staff is operating around-the-clock to get the servers back up and running, lamenting the attack and the major loss of revenue.
