FM Lieberman on a State Visit to Kiev

Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman is on an official state visit to Kiev, where he met on Monday with Ukrainian President Victor Yushchenko, Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko, and Foreign Minister Petro Poroshenko, calling for an end of both countries demanding visas from visitors.

If the minister succeeds in eliminating the visa demand, it would significantly reduce the cost of travel to Uman and other kivrei tzaddikim in the Ukraine. He told the senior officials the visa costs are significant and dropping the demand would increase travel from Israel to their country. They also discussed stepped-up bilateral relations.

There was also talk of bringing in Israeli experts to address an anti-terrorism conference.
