Vilnai Offers S. Korea Assistance in Dealing with N. Korea

During a visit to South Korea, Deputy Defense Minister Matan Vilnai offered local leaders Israeli assistance in protecting its homefront. N. Korea’s nuclear arsenal is a threat to the West, in addition to its ballistic missiles, which pose a real threat to Seoul, the capital of S. Korea.

The daily Yisrael HaYom reports there are currently some 30,000 US forces in S. Korea, supporting the local military, but the country lacks a sufficient homefront protection system.

Vilnai told senior officials that both S. Korea and Israel face similar threats and Israel’s experience can indeed be helpful in permitting Seoul to address the need to provide a comprehensive homefront protection network.
