Weeks after the left-wing expressed outrage over a sefer being distributed in the IDF by the IDF Rabbinate addressing the Halachos of mezuzah, the sefer is out of circulation.

YWN-ISRAEL reported back in April 2013 that IDF Chief Rabbi Brigadier-General Rafi Peretz unofficially ordered holding off distributing the sefer after the daily Haaretz and others expressed criticism, labeling the sefer an affront to the Druse and other non-Jewish soldiers serving in the IDF.

Kol Yehudi reports the left-wing did not abate its effort to remove the book from the IDF and as a result of the tenacious efforts, the sefer has officially been taken out of circulation because they feel it “discriminates against non-Jews.”

Amazingly, the sefer is strictly one of Halacha, but the leftists cannot tolerate that on pages 22 and 23 of the 142 page sefer it addresses why a mezuzah is required in the IDF, citing the role played by non-Jews in the country.

The sefer concludes that halachically speaking a mezuzah is mandatory on IDF buildings even though many non-Jews serve in the military because it is a Jewish country from a Halachic standpoint. This is the “discrimination” that compelled Rabbi Peretz to remove the sefer from the IDF’s Halachic library.
