4:00PM: A Sefer Torah inside a car that was stolen on Motzei Shabbos, has just been recovered, YWN NYC has learned.

Sources tell YWN that an anonymous phone call was received at the Misaskim Organizations 24 hour hotline, informing them that the vehicle was parked on East 10th Street, between Avenue I and the “dead end”.

As YWN NYC had reported earlier, the NYPD was searching for the vehicle, which had been stolen from outside the Congregation Agudath Sholom of Flatbush, on 18th Ave, near Coney Island Avenue. The thief had swiped the driver’s keys and wallet, which had been left somewhere in the Shul, police said.

Misaskim immediately contacted Detectives from the NYPD’s 66th Precinct who were working on the case, and responded to the scene to secure the vehicle – which sure enough, was parked exactly where the tipster had said it was.

After taking fingerprints from the exterior of the vehicle, the trunk was opened, and Boruch Hashem, the Sefer Torah was found inside, exactly as the owner had left it.

Misaskim is in contact with the owner of the vehicle, and police are continuing their investigation.
