Nadler Proud to Help Procure Two Mini-Buses for Brooklyn Seniors Served by the Jewish Community Council of Greater Coney Island

nadlerToday, Congressman Jerrold Nadler (D-NY) was honored by the Jewish Community Council of Greater Coney Island (JCCGCI), led by Rabbi Moshe Wiener, for his work on behalf of the communities of southern Brooklyn over 20 years as their congressional representative. At a “Ribbon Cutting” today in Coney Island, Rabbi Wiener thanked Rep. Nadler for an FY 2005 federal appropriation of $100,000 for JCCGI to purchase two wheelchair-accessible buses for the transport of senior citizens in the community. Photos are attached.

“I am extremely proud to have obtained a federal appropriation for the Jewish Community Council of Greater Coney Island for two wheelchair-accessible buses for seniors in southern Brooklyn,” said Nadler. “Under the tremendous and selfless leadership of Rabbi Moshe Wiener, JCCGCI, which was itself devastated by Hurricane Sandy, has done an amazing job transporting and serving seniors in need of food and amenities. It has been my great privilege serving this community for two decades.”

The two 16-passenger buses serve seniors in Coney Island, Sea Gate, Brighton Beach, Midwood and other parts of Brooklyn. JCCGCI received the buses shortly after Hurricane Sandy, and has been able to transport hundreds of seniors to obtain food and supplies that are desperately needed. JCCGCI, despite suffering extensive damage from Hurricane Sandy, continues to operate in order to serve seniors, kids, and families in need.
