Levi Aron To Plead Guilty – Expected To Get ’40 Years To Life’

Highly credible sources have confirmed to YWN that the Brooklyn man accused of murdering Leiby Kletzky Z”L will be pleading guilty in the next week.

Levi Aron, a 35-year-old hardware supply store clerk, has reportedly made a deal of “40 years to life”, in return for the guilty plea.

At the time of his indictment on July 20 2011, Kings County District Attorney Charles J. Hynes charged Levi Aron with killing eight-year-old Leiby Kletzky. Aron, was charged with two counts of Murder in the First Degree, three counts of Murder in the Second Degree, two counts of  Kidnapping in the First Degree and one count of Kidnapping in the Second Degree. If convicted, he faces a maximum of life in prison without parole.

The indictment charges that on July 11, Aron abducted Keltzky from the vicinity of 18th Avenue and Dahill Road, in Brooklyn. Aron then took the child to Aron’s apartment, at 466 East 2nd St., also in Brooklyn, where Aron killed him, according to the indictment.

  1. Please let me understand this? In 40 years he leaves prison as a 75 year old man? Whats wrong with life in prison i.e. he only leaves prison as a corpse?

  2. Given that the facts in the press suggest what would be a clear case justifying the maximum sentence, if “coping a plea” is acceptable to the District Attorney, it suggests there are weaknesses in the case that make the DA reluctant to go to trial (possible mental illness, perhaps the murder was not intentional meaning it might not be 1st degree, etc.).

  3. Akuperma is correct. This sentence is probably the best that can be done. The rest of Aron’s decree is up to Ha Kodesh Baruch Hu.

  4. The plea saves the victim’s family thr grief of a trial. Very little difference between 40 years and life. He will probably be in solitary for all 40 to protect his from the other prisoners. I was expecting that he’d plead insanity since it was an insane act.
